The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opened the contest for the flagbearership race of the party.

Asiedu Nketia at News Conference in Accra asked all those who have
intention to contest the flagbearership race to notify his office before
going about campaigning.
He said, in consonance with the party's
constitution the party should have done with regional elections before
announcing the contest of the flagbearership race.
He said looking at the calender the party is
running out of time hence the need to announce the flagbearership race
along side the regional and National Executive elections and also meet
the constitutional requirement of the party of electing its flagbearer
24 months to the national election.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia warned all those want to
contest the flagbearership to go about the campaign free from personal
attacks and foul language.
He said no regional or constitutency
executive should use the party structure to support any candidate.He
said, all those who want to contest should expurse their vision for
wanting to lead the party.
The NDC General Secretary said the party
had postponed the regional executive elections from August 25, to the of
September 1, with the election of the Flagbearership race coming on in
December.
